An Unusual Day at Lakewood 400

Hello Folks-

It's still cold here in Atlanta, and I'm over it. I'm feeling like a bear in hibernation these days, so yesterday I resolved to take the 30 Day Yoga Challenge at the gym. This morning, I left my Hot Vinyasa Flow feeling pretty dandy, and decided to set out on a buying/blogging trip at Lakewood 400.

Lakewood antique market in Cumming, GA takes place the third weekend of every month, and I never miss one. It can be hit or miss, but the picking is usually pretty good, and it's an easy day trip. I never come home empty handed.

I have lots of dealer friends there, and it's always fun to see what's new. From time to time I share my finds on the blog, and the dealers are always so appreciative. Who would't want free advertising? But today, one dealer wasn't having a very good day, and I fell into her trap...more on that later...

Looking back at the photos I took, my second resolution to move to California was clearly influencing my eye....

Just put me on a boat anywhere...as long as it's warm.
This original painting was done on an old door.

More old doors for my beach cottage....

I loved the massive map, but wasn't really feeling the Political Russian thing today...

My friend Brown Eyed Girl has COOL midcentury items. My next home will have touches of this, like the enamel factory lights.

John was a gentleman. He builds these awesome consoles from reclaimed PA planking in the perfect hue of blue.  A six footer console came home with me. This would be perfect at the beach.

Fun letters, if you like crafting....

Turn this the other way and line it in linen, and you have a great light fixture.

Fun headboard in my buddy Monte's booth, and you can't beat the price... $79.00! How about upholstering the cutouts in white linen?  The iron sconces were a steal too.

Beachy mod lamps at Brown Eyed Girl. Cute with the bed above, actually.

Beachy retro tabletop.

For your wine bar, or for hauling libations to the beach...

Pat always has adorable creations...the time and effort she dedicates is really something. Check out her table with the painted burlap under glass.

A classic beauty...

Monte also sold me this screen...

Have to toss in a few vintage bags and cool jewels...

Blue, cuz you know I love it.

This gorgeous roomy night stand with a creamy finish and unique brass hardware can be found in sweet Paula's booth. The price is good too:)

Unfortunately, I missed half of the show due to the crazy dealer story....

In a nutshell, I was chased out of the facility for taking a picture of some baby booties. YES, it's true. I snapped a pic while the dealer was on the phone. After I took it, she asked me not to...but it was too late. She asked me to erase it...I said no...and then ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. I explained that they were so cute and I am also a dealer and blogger and would like to feature them....but no, she insisted on calling security and she stormed off to management to "get me kicked out".

So I waved goodbye with a smile and left.

The WACKO followed me to my car and took a mug shot of my face at a 5" distance.

Don't be surprised if you see me on a WANTED poster at Lakewood 400.  Crap, I used to get paid for my headshots...

Happy Hour might start early at Casa Russo tonight.

This is for her...she obviously needs some.....

NAMASTE,
Lisa

What a story! But what absolutely fabulous finds and treasures. I have a good friend who lives in Cumming ( and has very good taste!) so I'll have to go down there.... I am with you re the cold: time for winter to turn into spring.
Hope you'll stop by my blog: I had just posted today about an architectural salvage place here in NC.
PS I found you on Instagram, and will go follow right now! Stay warm.
